World Pyro Olympics 2009

July 12, 2009

Updated: 07/10/09

The World Pyro Olympics is moving to a new location which means that this year it will have new rules, new shows, new effects and new participants :D

This year, the World Pyro Olympics is packing up and moving to Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City. The competition for this year is already looking promising because, this year it will be a pyromusical competition. Each of the 10 shows that will be presented are going to be synchronized to music and is now worthy to be called a Pyromusical. As promising as the competitions is, the list of participants this year can only tell us that the World Pyro Olympics 2009 will only bring up the competition to a much higher level. This year’s schedule is as follows:

14 November – Korea and USA
21 November – Germany and China
28 November – Japan and Australia
05 December – Canada and Italy
12 December – Highlights from the participants — La Mancha Group International (closing display)

We should watch how Parente will try to defend their title as The Champions and at the same time we must watch out how the other participants try to get the most coveted World Pyro Olympics trophy. I’m sure that the shows this year will be much complex than the show’s we’ve seen in the past. Since they moved the competition in The fort we must expect a wider firing pad and ofcourse more one shots (I Wish). More Updates are coming soon :D This event will be held from November 14 to December 12 2009, Every Saturdays :D

And the winner is……..

May 31, 2008

So the World Pyro Olympics 2008 ended with an almost perfect weather! The only bad thing was that the wind was blowing everywhere so obviously there was smoke everywhere too haha!! Too bad cause the sound system was destroyed which removed the pyromusical feeling of the last show! good thing that some of the tracks were still hearable from where i was! :D

At first the audio was perfect but when the winner was about to be announced the speakers just stopped working so we were all asking each other who?? hahhaa!! But Some people were able to hear it and the winner was Italy’s Parente fireworks my favorite! :D

World Pyro Olympics 2008: Italy’s Parente fireworks

May 25, 2008

Finally the day that i’ve been waiting for came! That is italy’s day. They were the second ones to fire! I enjoyed this display the most out of everything. I’ve seen all of their signature shells which are my dream shells!! hahahah!! :D So here’s my report!

The display started with 3 warning shots of salutes. After the salutes was a giant willow to red strobes shell. Then cakes of whitles to reports started the display proper. Above this were sizes and effects of peonies. some had crossette cores and the bigger ones had color changing stars. candles of green whizzers fired below making very nice but weird sounds. After the green ones red whizzers came still with continous barrage of peonies above. This segment was put to a close by a barrage of small far falle shells.

The next section started with candles of firefly comets together with mines with the same effects. This theme continued until a barrage of orange crossette shells put the segment to a close.

The third section started with candles of bright pink and white comets with thick magnesium tails. Above were shells of half red and half green peonies. Then 3 red peony with silver scrambling comets ended the section.

Next, candles of thick magnesium comets with green mines and some with red mines arranged like this (\l/\/\l/\/\l/) below opened the section. The ones with the red mines are the ones arranged like this (\/). This continued then 3 ring with crackling cores fired closing the section.

3 Cakes of accelerating comets fired below. This continued then shells of white flying fish started firing above. This theme continued throughout the section then was concluded by a barrage of white crossette shells with a color changing crackling willow shell.

The next section was introduced by bright orange candles. Above were blue falling leaves making a great color combination. Candles of thick crackling willow comets added below. The falling leaves continued above as the last barrage o falling leaves went down blue cylindrical shell of shells fired above. The willow candles just continued below then pale green with orange pistil peony fired above finishing the section.

The next section started with 2 layered mines. The lower layer was just orange mines and above were blue crossette mines. These theme continued then a shell of shuttles fired above. This section was put to a close by a red and green double cored peony and below this were orange photoflashes.

The next section was introduced by green mines with gold tails. As the mines below continued crackling chrysanthenums fired above. The crackles were so big hahah! :D . The segment ended with small peonies with reports below and above were shells of micro crackles to a shell of shells of the same effect.

The next section started with cakes of red mines with a fan of firefly mines in the middle. This mines were arranged like this ( \/\/\\l//\/\/). This continued then shells of purple peony started firing shocking some of the audience because the mines below were so quiet hahaha! :D . The segment ended with red and green with salutes shell of shells.

Orange mines fired below then above were shells of orange strobes. this theme continued and put to a close by small far falle shells below with orange crossettes above.

People thought that the fireworks fired mistakably in the water but really this were just nautical shells. It had a white flare effects to red mines. As the red mines fired, shells of white strobing falling leaves started above. People heard another barrage of shells pointing to the water. As the final barrage of the falling leaves continued finished nautical shells of white comets fired below. Later on the audience wanted more of this shells haha! :D The barrage was so close to the audience so the nautical shells really had a great impact. They were so close to us hahahaha! :D

The next segment started with purple candles. This continued then purple crossettes fired above. The crossettes they used were not so much of a typical crossettes because the after breaking the stars reached the waters giving a very good effect. This was put to an end by purple crossete. When these crossettes broke the colors changed to golden willows with white strobes.

The next section started with strobing white waterfalls. Then below was a fan of silver to red to white strobe cakes. The section ended with a barrage of gamboge white strobe shells.

The next section started with italian cylindrical shells of crackling willows with same effect as a tail. As the first two of these shells fired orange nautical flares burned on the water. This continued then fans of blue with crackling mines fired below. This segment had a great layering of the effects. :D The section closed with a fan of willow shells tails.

The next section had a great combination of colors and effects. It started with silver comet shells then below were shells of red falling leaves. The segment close with a barrage of red falling leaves, double cored silver willows, golden willows, peonies then red and blue parachute shells fired.

An aqua dahlia fired alone then greenish – bluish peony to crackles fired. This continued then typical italian cylindrical purple peonies with flash salutes fired building up the segment a bit. Then another typical italian shell fired. These time they were red ring with green ring in the middle to a louder titanium salutes building up the segment further more. Above this were orange to blue chrysanthenums with golden tails. Then after this were green to blue peonies with red pistils Giving a great rhythm in the segment. This built up to larger orange peonies. Then this peonies were changed to greenish – bluish peonies. This continued then amazing italian cylindrical shells fired. This time the effects were red far falles. Then it became green far falles. Then blue typical italian multibreak shells fired. More of this fired then red cylindrical shells of shells fired -> then gold shell of shells. Then gold multibreak shells fired below then above where red shell of shells, then gold. After this very typical italian sequence color changing peonies with the best timing ive seen fired. I’d say this color changing shells are one of the most complex peony i’ve seen when it comes to timing. First it’s just an orange peony, as the ornage went out the pistil came to life orange stars as the colors of the pistil went out again the outer core came to life again with purple stars this time!. What a great shell! This continued until the end of the segment. This segment is exactly what italy’s known for. Great rhythm with alternating effects of spherical and cylindrical bombs. If you’ll look at the italian shows in different website their show’s won’t be far from this segment of their display. Whew exactly what i was hoping for that they would do hehehe!! I saw my favore italian effects! :D

Purple candles started this section. above was a barrage of cylindrical willows with salutes. This time clearly it looked like it was the final segment. As the salutes fired shells of golden willows fired above. More and more of this shells fired building up to an almost perfect finale but the final ooomph wasn’t there so I was hoping that there would be more………………………………………………………………………………………….

Then a barrage of shells was heard by all of the people then another signature segment of parente was made. Below were cylindrical shells with salutes then above were large peonies. This is a signature parente segment because on the left side where all greens then in the middle were all white then on the right side all of the shells firing where red making a clear statement that it was the italian team who’s firing. The finale just built up to an awesome phase bombarding us with salutes, peonies and cylindrical shells. Then below were also candles with same color scheme. The peonies became larger and larger then the final barrages of shells came out as the salutes fired below was a fan of whistling serpents.

For me this was the best show in the World Pyro Olympics 2008. All of my dream shells were put in front of me so during the finale i didn’t really care anymore to lose my voice i was just screaming my head of hahaha!! So maybe see you next year again parente???? hehehe!! So i guess i should make the report speak by itself hahaa! :D

Canada’s Pyro Studios and France’s Fetes Et Feux

May 10, 2008

After 1 week of waiting it was time again for me to witness the World Pyro Olympics. This time the rain came in later and it just got hard right before the first display! Whoo bad luck huh?? Hehe!! I guess this bad luck all turns around when you’re talking from a pyro enthusiast’s view of point! It makes a whole lot of difference hahah!! This was because the two shows today were so great that all I thought was that the “real” competition is starting. Finally I saw some real salutes!! Hahaha!! I was so wet during the display hehe!! So it’s show time.

      Pyro Studios of Canada

They started their display with a giant green chrysanthemum if I’m not mistaken. I really didn’t see it I just saw the tail come out because I was inside a restaurant because of the heavy rain. Anyways that’s how it all started. After that were different segments. Sorry I’m not sure about the order so ill just explain each of the segments that I can remember! :D First one I could remember was the red and green rings with crackling centers in a z fanned formation. While that was exploding and everything giant rings above was also explode. The effects above were mainly comet rings to red stafe shuttle and crossettes comet rings with crackling center. After this I can remember one segment were different multi colored peonies with coco core were exploding in a 3 layered fashion wan in the center then 2 above it then a large one. Together with this was also multi colored peonies with glitter cores. There was also a segment with color changing chrysanthemums. The 3 middle shots were exploding from left to right then the two higher shots explode then a large green to orange peony on the top then the middle peonies exploded from right to left then the same thing follows. There was also a strobe segment that was mainly composed of 2 color changing peonies from red to white strobes then giant white strobes on the top. There was also a part with giant red spirals. One part was made of different colored dahlias. Some were yellow and some were yellow with orange. On top of these dahlias were lavender dahlias. Their crossettes segment were made of many red and orange crossettes. Some pink and blue crossettes were also present. After this was a barrage of chrysanthenum that were fired in z formation and they were like meeting each other. After this was many peonies exploding everywhere making a great finale. After a sudden pause the display comes back to life again. Just when everyone thought the display was over a new segment started. This time it started with horsetail mines in just one side of the both. I think that due to the rain only the half side of the fronts where fired. After a few shots of the golden horsetail mines were charcoal horsetails and on top was charcoal willow to red or green. After this a cake in a z pattern fired. The effect was multi colored falling leaves. Above these where also shells of multi-colored falling leaves with fish. Another segment was composed of z comet to crackling chrysanthemum cakes below and silver electric comet shells above. The only bad comment I could make about the show was that half of the fronts didn’t fire but the phase of the show was fast enough for the audience not to get bored. I think that the fake finale had a big impact on everyone. The shells used were great especially the multi colored peony with glitter core and the red to white strobe peonies. The finale started with golden tiger tail crossettes. After a few shots white peony added in. The phase increased in more and more for quite a long time. Then the final blow was made of many deafening salutes I couldn’t even hear my shout but when the salutes ended I realized that I was shouting so loudly hahahha :D

     Fetes Et Feux of France

The display started with a salute segment. First it was just pointing up then as it got a bit faster the salutes were firing left then right then left and right. Then the first shots of roman candles fired with an orange with silver crackling tail effect, 3 to the left and 3 to the right. Then a barrage of salutes fired making everyone in the audience deaf hahaha. After this was a carpet bombing of a multi layered double cored peonies.

The main display started with red comet with silver tail candles. It was arranged this way \/ \/ \/. Then some more added up arranged this way \\\\////. Then back to the orang crackling comet candles. After that red comet candles started firing again tohether with a red mine cake! This time charcoal comet with crackle candle in a large fan formation went up. As this was firing low breaking peonies with crackling core in red was firing. A crackling crossette cake started together with green peony with white then charcoal coco pistil and cylindrical crackling chrysanthemum with salutes fired on mid level. This segment ended with another multi layered bombardment of crossettes making the sky filled with smoke.

The next Section started with a fanned light blue roman candle. Silver comets in a 3 pointed fan added in with a silver go-getter-ish mine on the middle. Another set of the light blue candles went up together with more comets this time all pointing up.As the blue candles finished more silver comets fired 4 to the left and 4 to the right. Then the silvers mines added in again this time there was just 4 with a gap somewhere between the last two ones.More of this fired in a fan this time together with shells of palms above. Then blue mines arragned this way \l \l \/ l/ l/. Blue peony with crackling pistils added in. A final 3 shot of shells of palm brought the segment to a close.

The next section shows different kinds of strobe effects. It started of with 2 double cored chrysanthenum. The outer core had a silver comet to green strobes effect while the inner core had a purple strobe effects. Above were 3 smaller green gamboge chrysanthenums. In the middle of this two were 3 palm shells. This theme continued and a barrage of smaller white strobe shells brought this section to an end.

The next section started with orange with silver tail comets arranged like this \ \ \l/ / /. This continued for a while then purple go-getter-ish mines added in, in a fan position. This continued and changed to candles of orange crossettes with silver tail with blue mines below. Above was 2 yellow peonies and one blue peony in the middle. This pattern continued until it became all blue peonies. Next was the final shot of the 2 yellow peonies. The next variation of shells were 3 blue peonies below and one big purple peony above good color combionations i thnk.

After this was a section made of crossettes and peonies. It started of with yellow candles. After a while a fan of orange peony and yellow peonies fired from left to right then 2 purple crossettes fired above. This theme continued. Below a fan of charcoal to crackling candle replaced the previous yellow candles. This segment was brought to an end by a barrage of different colored far falles.

The Next section started with green candles with silver tail. Large and thin green crossette mine candles and silver comet candles made the lower portion thicker. This continued with a fan of pinkish crossette mine candles with the same colored chrysanthenums above. This continued and below a great fan of silver flittering crossette fired with green candles and green peonies above. After a while silver comets added below and a fan of green sky mines fired with silver palms and large green peonies with crackling pistils above. As the green sky mines ended green with silver tail scrambling comets added in in the middle above. As thesecotinued the effects chaged to green with silver candles below and green to silver comet peony above and in the middle were silver chrysanthenums. This long section came to an end with Large silver kamuro shells and barrage of large red peonies.

The final segment started with great charcoal horsetails. I could tell that the audience liked this effect a lot. They even cheered more when silver horsetails with green strobe added above. This horsetails reached the water hahaha. Below a fan of green candles with red mine cakes below fired as the horsetails were changed to golden willows. As the candle and mines ended willow comets fired and bigger golden willows fired above, at this time i could tell that this will be a long finale!. This continued with more and more willows in different sizes. Orange crossettes with silver tail also added in. The willows stopped for a while together with the willow comets then the pace got higher when salutes fired then more willows fired above. This just kept continuing until the audience were so deaf already. Then shells of golden willows with golden tails fired as well. This continued with more and more salutes and we heard the lift charges of the final barrage of shells. The final barrage was made of willows, red and orange crossettes and salutes. As the salutes below fired more salutes above fired covering all the willows with salutes as the flashes of the salutes came out the people could see the golden willows still reaching the ground.

This display has been one of the grandest display i’ve seen in World Pyro Olympics. The effects used were great. There were so many effects used specially with the roman candles. I really like their cylindrical crackling with salute shells. The division of each sections were also made clear by the barrage of shells. It was a great show overall. The finale was quite a big surprise. The length was perfect everyone was screaming for more and they gave use more. This year they probably used the most effects so far. And so far they have a big chance of winning the title.

Next week will be my most awaited country’s turn, Italy. Together with italy is Venezuela. I heard that both of these countries will show us great displays. Oh and it’s quite hard to pick my winner for this week so maybe you can tell me your own comments on the displays and if you have a winner then tell me hahaha! :D See you all next week :D .

Glorious Group and Nico Lunig of Wpo 2008

May 3, 2008

To start of my reviews i’d like to tell first about the half bad weather. I’d say that it was half bad because it stopped just right before the shows. Tough luck for germany eh?? Well when we crossed the road going to the san miguel by the bay the rain was not so hard yet but it was getting harder and harder which made me scared that the shows might be cancelled but lucky enough the shows was still able to push through i kept asking my friend if it was still pushing through or not. Before the rain totally went out me and the person who was with me went to power station that is located in san miguel by the bay so we played some games there until i saw that the rain was coming out a bit so we went out and we already positioned ourselves beside the boundaries between the vip area and the general admission area. WE waited for some hours and then the show started!! :D

First was China’s Glorious group Germany’s Nico-Lunig. They used different crackling effects as their introduction. There was thousand crackling Chrysanthenums above, electric comets on mid air and just a bit below some green peony with crackling tails. After that they showed the fireworks color by color i think it started with yellow then red then blue. Some of the effects i remember where crossettes with tails, peony, dahlias, color changing peony. double cored chrysanthenums with tail in the outer core and the whole shell has a tail, white strobes, salutes, palms, silver willows, silver comet roman candle, blue to yellow mines, blue with gold mines, fanned tiger tail crossette cakes, fanned green crossette with tails, charcoal to color willows, double concentric rings, white comet rings to stafe shuttles, white comet crossette rings, peony with tails, spirals, v formation cakes that has different crackling comet effects ending into small thousand crackling chrysanthenums, glitter comet shell of shells, and blue multibreak shell of shells. Some of the more memorable moment of their display was when those huge double cored chrysanthemum were angled in such a way that the tails of the shells will cross each other. It’s also surprising that the timing was with the break of the crossettes and the break of some other shells. It would have been much more interesting if the pattern of the roman candle was completed. Another part I liked was when there was many small blue to crackle shells was going on and behind that was salutes. It was clever how they tried to hide salutes under the crackles. :D It was interesting to see how they had many shells to represent the boundary between each segment of the display. I guess that’s all I could say about china’s Germany’s display. The experience watching it in the general admission section was incomparable to any of the other displays we’ve seen experienced from the pass. Due to the closeness of the barge, we would receive all sorts of paper pieces from the shells and some even going to our eyes hahaha!! Definitely an unforgettable one. At the end you’ll see paper pieces flying everywhere and the wind was going towards us making some of the shells look faded because of the smoke. Being all of these said it was still quite an experience hehehe! The sky distribution of the shells were not as good as last year. They had better use of space also year.

The last show of the night was by Germany’s Nico-Lunig event GMBH China’s Glorious group. The effects used where quite the same with china Germany only with the addition of the great nautical shells that had silver comets and green with silver tail crossettes. They started of the display with I think about 15 roman candles making a fan effect with one pointing to the left, then up, then another pointing to the right. Together with this Candles where different pattern shells and they had some perfect red hearts. The display stopped for 5 second and then the next segment began. I think that it was the multi level color changing peonies. After that was another pause then the next segment which was I think those yellow dahlias and yellow peony with tails. I’m not sure about the order of the segments haha. There was a segment where it started with the fanned green crossettes and some crossette shells above. This segment ended with some great nautical crossettes. Then there was one segment that made just completely out of some nice flittering charcoal willows (I think) you know the ones with tails that looked like they had some small spots of gold in them? Heheh! One segment was made out of different crackling effects starting with electric comets then thousand crackling chrys, crackling comet to green peony, and ended with crackling willows. They kept doing the part with red peony with tails, then some dahlias, then a big blue dahlia, then a big white dahlia that looked like it had salutes on the middle which I liked very much because of the power of the shells. The last segment that I’ll talk about will be the ones with charcoal willow to green effects then the one with charcoal willow to red effects. At one point in the show they also used some great white comet nautical shells firing from both ends of the barge which was a pleasant surprise because I didn’t expect any nautical fireworks this year. That’s all about the great display of germany. The shells had great timing. The 5 second pauses didn’t make the display ugly but it made the segment much clearer. Their finale was awesome, not because it was long, big or saluteful but because of the surprise at the end. So the finale started with the small multi colored shells and then some bigger shells added up in the sky then it build up. It stopped with a big bombardment then we called see the small multi colored shells continuing I thought that it was just a left over of those things but then another barrage of shells came out this time being white comet peonies. So after that the multi colored shells toned down until there was nothing already just when the last one popped all the people were surprised because we all heard barrages of shells firing and at first it was quite scary because the angles were quite over sided so the shells started to break starting with red, orange, yellow, blue, then purple it made a fan effect from right to left making a great rainbow pattern which was another pleasant surprise. It’s great that China knew what they lacked in their display last year, these was the nautical shells. I guess their show just gets better and better! :D

Today’s champion for me was Germany China. Please if you’ve got comments put it up and if you want you can post your own revies as comments. :D Tell me your own opinions on the shows.

Due to some technical problems there was a final minute change in schedule. First who fired was Germany’s Nico-Lunig and the second was China’s Glorious. I guess that explains why Germany had some of those great Italian multibreak shell of shells and multibreak shells.
